石川 美枝子

石川美枝子

ボタニカルアーティスト。ボタニカルアート講師。

東京生まれ。武蔵野美術大学・商業デザイン学科卒業。自然科学系のイラストレータの後に、30年以上ボタニカルアートに焦点をあてています。ボタニカルアートの主なテーマは日本のサクラ、そしてボルネオの熱帯雨林で育つ植物です。これまでに12回、ボルネオで現地取材をして作品を描いています。

ボルネオの熱帯雨林には、膨大な量の生物のエネルギーで満たされています。ラフレシアやネペンテスのような不思議で魅力的な植物がたくさんあります。しかし、近年ボルネオの森林は減少の一途をたどっています。作品をご覧になっていただいた方々に、熱帯雨林の壮大さや素晴らしさ、そして現在の厳しい状況を伝えられることを願っています。

MIEKO ISHIKAWA

Mieko Ishikawa, born in Tokyo, Japan, graduated from Musashino Art University. Initially she working as an illustrator. After that she has focused on botanical art for over 30 years, as well as been eagerly to train botanical artists.

Her main themes of botanical art are Japanese cherry blossoms as well as plants grown in rainforests in Asia, such as Rafflesia and Nepenthes. For drawing them, she has visited Borneo twelve times.

Rainforests hold mysterious and fascinating plants like Rafflesia and Nepenthes and are filled with tremendous amount of energy from lives of habitat. She hopes her works project fabulousness of rainforests and lead many people to understanding the magnificent rainforest and the current grim.
